Apalis alticola
The Kungwe Apalis (Apalis alticola) is a small, insectivorous bird found in the montane forests of the Albertine Rift in East Africa. It is characterized by its olive-green upperparts, yellow underparts, and a distinctive white eye-ring. This species is known for its melodious and varied song, often heard in the dense undergrowth of its habitat. The Kungwe Apalis forages for insects and small invertebrates in the thick vegetation, using its slender bill to glean prey from leaves and branches. Due to habitat loss and fragmentation, the conservation status of the Kungwe Apalis is currently listed as Vulnerable by the IUCN.
