Kurrichane thrush

Turdus libonyana

The Kurrichane thrush is a medium-sized bird found in southern Africa. It has a distinctive olive-brown upper body and a pale underbelly with dark spots. This species is known for its melodious song, often heard in woodlands and suburban gardens. Kurrichane thrushes are omnivorous, feeding on a variety of insects, fruits, and seeds. They are known for their secretive behavior, often foraging on the ground and using their sharp eyesight to detect prey. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and urbanization pose potential risks to their populations.
