Laced Woodpecker

Picus vittatus

The Laced Woodpecker (Picus vittatus) is a medium-sized woodpecker found in Southeast Asia. It has distinctive black and white lacy patterns on its back and wings, with a red crown on the head of the male. This species is known for its drumming sound, which it produces by pecking on trees to communicate and establish territory. Laced Woodpeckers primarily feed on insects and larvae found under bark and in wood. They are often found in mature forests and wooded areas, and are known for their acrobatic climbing and clinging abilities on tree trunks.
