Lady Amherst's Pheasant

Chrysolophus amherstiae

The Lady Amherst's Pheasant is a strikingly beautiful bird native to southwestern China and Myanmar. The male boasts a long, colorful tail and a vibrant plumage of iridescent greens, blues, and reds, while the female has a more understated appearance with mottled brown and black feathers. These pheasants are typically found in dense forests and bamboo thickets, where they forage for seeds, insects, and small invertebrates. They are known for their elaborate courtship displays, which involve fluffing their plumage and performing intricate dances. Lady Amherst's Pheasants are considered to be of Least Concern by the IUCN, as their populations are currently stable and they are not facing significant threats.
