Malaconotus lagdeni

Lagden's Bushshrike (Malaconotus lagdeni) is a medium-sized bird found in the woodlands and savannas of eastern Africa. It is known for its striking black and white plumage, with a distinctive black mask around the eyes. The species is known for its melodious and varied calls, often heard during the breeding season. Lagden's Bushshrike is an insectivorous bird, foraging in the dense vegetation for insects and small invertebrates. It builds cup-shaped nests in trees or shrubs to lay its eggs. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and degradation are potential threats to its population.
