Lance-tailed Manakin

Chiroxiphia lanceolata

The Lance-tailed Manakin is a small passerine bird found in the tropical forests of South America. Males are known for their vibrant plumage and intricate courtship displays, where they perform acrobatic dances to attract females. They feed on fruits, insects, and small arthropods, often foraging in the lower levels of the forest. This species plays a vital role in seed dispersal and insect control within its habitat. Despite being relatively common in its range, habitat loss and fragmentation pose threats to its population.
