Laughing Dove, Spilopelia senegalensis, is a resident breeder across Africa, the Palearctic and the Oriental Region, including India, central Asia, southern Arabia and Africa. It is a small pigeon in the dove family, with a long tail. It lives in dry scrub and semi-desert. It is closely related to the spotted dove, which has a white and black chequered necklace. Other names used for it include laughing turtle dove, palm dove, Senegal dove and, in Asia, little brown dove.
