Laughing Gull

Leucophaeus atricilla

The Laughing Gull is a medium-sized gull with a distinctive appearance. During the breeding season, adults have a black hood, white head, and gray wings. They have a loud, distinctive call that sounds like laughter, hence their name. These gulls are highly opportunistic feeders, often scavenging for food along beaches, in marshes, and near human settlements. They are also known for their aggressive behavior during the breeding season. Laughing Gulls breed in large colonies on coastal islands and are often found in association with other seabirds.
