Spinus lawrencei
Lawrence's Goldfinch is a small songbird found in the western United States and northern Mexico. It has a distinctive black face and throat, yellow wing bars, and a pinkish wash on its underparts. This species is often found in open woodlands, scrublands, and chaparral habitats, where it forages for seeds and insects. During the breeding season, the male performs a fluttering flight display to attract a mate. Lawrence's Goldfinch is known for its sweet, warbling song, which is a common sound in its range. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and degradation are potential threats to this species.
