Lawrence's hummingbird

Cynanthus lawrencei

Lawrence's hummingbird is a small, strikingly colored species of hummingbird found in the mountains of Mexico. The male has iridescent green and blue plumage on its head and back, with a vibrant red throat and breast. The female is less colorful, with a greenish back and a white throat. These hummingbirds are known for their agile flight and their ability to hover in front of flowers while feeding on nectar. They are also known to visit feeders in human-inhabited areas. Lawrence's hummingbirds play an important role in pollination and are a delightful sight to birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts.
