Phoebastria immutabilis
The Laysan albatross is a large seabird known for its impressive wingspan and graceful gliding flight. These birds are predominantly white with black markings on their wings and back. They are highly adapted for life at sea, using their long, slender wings to soar over the ocean for long periods without needing to flap. Laysan albatrosses are known for their elaborate courtship displays and strong pair bonds. They primarily feed on fish and squid, and are often found foraging in the North Pacific Ocean. These birds face threats from marine pollution and habitat destruction, but conservation efforts are underway to protect their breeding sites and foraging areas.
