Lear's Macaw

Anodorhynchus leari

Lear's Macaw (Anodorhynchus leari) is a striking parrot species native to northeastern Brazil. With its vibrant blue plumage and large hooked beak, it is a visually stunning bird. These macaws are known for their specialized diet, primarily feeding on the seeds of licuri palm trees. They are often found in arid, rocky landscapes and are known for their impressive flying abilities. Lear's Macaws are highly social birds, often gathering in large flocks. Unfortunately, this species is critically endangered due to habitat loss and illegal trapping for the pet trade.
