Lemon-breasted Canary, Crithagra citrinipectus, is a finch of south Malawi to eastern South Africa, with a wider presence in neighbouring parts of south-eastern Africa. It was first described by Clancey and Lawson in 1960. The bird is linked to dry savannah, dry shrubland and rural gardens, and it also uses open grassland with scattered low growth and the edges of wooded areas. It is a local species rather than a widespread one. Its breeding range runs through southern Africa, and it is known from areas where palms are important for nesting.
