Lemon Dove

Columba larvata (Temminck, 1809)

Columbidae — Pigeons, Doves

Lemon Dove, Columba larvata, is a bird of montane forests across sub-Saharan Africa. It is a pigeon with a brownish-grey body, a cinnamon breast, and a greenish sheen on the neck in adults. The head shows white markings, while young birds are browner, with paler fringes that give a barred look and greyer facial markings. It is a fairly small species, and the sexes are much alike, though females are a little duller. Its range is broad, and it is regarded as a species of least concern.
