Lemon-spectacled Tanager, Chlorothraupis olivacea, is a bird of Middle America and north-western South America, breeding from Panama to far north-west Ecuador. It belongs to the cardinal family and was described by Cassin in 1860. It lives in moist lowland and montane forest, as well as in heavily altered former woodland. In western Colombia and north-western Ecuador it is known for the yellow eye-ring shown by both sexes, which helps separate it from similar tanagers. It is usually found in the understorey and rarely goes above 800 m, most often staying below 400 m.
