Leontica Warbler

Schistolais leontica

The Leontica Warbler (Schistolais leontica) is a small, insectivorous bird found in the high-altitude forests of the Alps. It is known for its melodious song and distinctive plumage, with a brownish-olive back, pale underparts, and a yellowish wash on the throat. This warbler is often observed flitting among the dense undergrowth, foraging for insects and spiders. It builds its cup-shaped nest low in the vegetation, using moss, lichen, and spider silk. The Leontica Warbler is a secretive species, preferring to remain hidden within its forest habitat, making it a challenging bird to observe.
