Elaenia brachyptera
The Lesser Elaenia (Elaenia brachyptera) is a small passerine bird found in South America. It has a distinctive olive-green plumage with a pale yellow belly and a short bill. This species is known for its melodious and repetitive song, often heard in open woodlands and forest edges. Lesser Elaenias are insectivorous and can be observed foraging for insects in the mid to upper canopy. They are known for their active and agile behavior, often flitting from branch to branch in search of prey. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation are potential threats to the long-term survival of this species.
