Lesser Grass Finch, Emberizoides ypiranganus, is a passerine of the tanager family found in eastern Paraguay, north-eastern Argentina and southern to south-eastern Brazil. First described in 1907 by Ihering, HFA and Ihering, R, it is a monotypic member of Emberizoides. It lives in wet grasslands, swampy meadows and marshes, and also appears less often in drier grassland. Its range runs from sea level up to 900 m. The species is regarded as a sedentary resident throughout the year.
