Lesser Masked Weaver
Ploceus intermedius
The Lesser Masked Weaver (Ploceus intermedius) is a small, social bird found in sub-Saharan Africa. These weavers are known for their intricate, gourd-shaped nests, which are woven from grass and often hang from the branches of trees. The males have striking black masks and yellow plumage, while the females are more subtly colored with streaked brown and yellow. They are highly vocal birds, with a variety of calls and songs used for communication and courtship. Lesser Masked Weavers are commonly found in savannas, woodlands, and grasslands, often near water sources where they forage for insects and seeds.
