Lesser Vasa Parrot, Coracopsis nigra, is a parrot found in Madagascar, where it is present across much of the island. It lives in mangrove swamps and evergreen forest. This species is one of the vasa parrots, and it is also known as the black parrot. It nests in tree hollows. Courtship takes place in February, when the female may lose the feathers on her head and appear yellowish, and the male’s beak may become white.
