Lesser White-fronted Goose

Anser erythropus

The Lesser White-fronted Goose is a small, migratory waterfowl species known for its distinctive white patch on the front of its head. This species breeds in the Arctic tundra and then migrates south for the winter, often forming large flocks during migration. It primarily feeds on grasses, sedges, and small aquatic plants. The population of the Lesser White-fronted Goose has been declining due to habitat loss, hunting, and disturbance at breeding sites. Conservation efforts are underway to protect its breeding and wintering habitats and to address the threats it faces during migration.
