Lettered Aracari, Pteroglossus inscriptus, is a toucan from south-western and southern Amazonia in South America. It breeds in lowland forest across that region, including western Brazil, southern Colombia, eastern Ecuador and north-western Bolivia. The bird is known for its complex bill pattern, with the two subspecies differing in the markings of the mandible. It lives in a range of evergreen forest types, among them várzea, terra firme, secondary growth, gallery forest and forested islands. It is a canopy forager, though it may come down near the ground when following army ants.
