Lidth's Jay, Garrulus lidthi, is a passerine in the Corvidae family that breeds on Amami Is. in the southern Ryukyu Islands of Japan. It is a jay with a very limited range, confined to a small part of the Japanese archipelago. It is slightly larger than the Eurasian jay, with a heavier bill and a longer tail. The head lacks a crest, the feathers there are velvety black, the shoulders and back are deep purplish blue, and the rest of the plumage is rich chestnut purple. It lives in subtropical evergreen broadleaf forest and in coniferous, deciduous and mixed woodland.
