Amazona finschi (Sclater, PL, 1864)

Lilac-crowned Amazon, Amazona finschi, breeds in western Mexico and is a parrot of the Pacific slopes. It is marked by green plumage, a maroon forehead, and a lilac-blue crown and neck. The adult also shows yellowish underparts with dark edging, greenish yellow cheeks and ear coverts, and a pale brown-grey bill, eye ring and legs. Its wings include dark blue primary feathers, green secondaries tipped in dark blue, and a red patch on the first five secondaries. Juveniles differ mainly in the iris and forehead.
