The Lilac-crowned Amazon, scientifically known as Amazona finschi, is a striking parrot species native to the Pacific slopes of Mexico. These medium-sized parrots are known for their vibrant plumage, featuring a predominantly green body with a distinct lilac-colored crown, as well as red on the wings and tail. They are highly social birds, often seen in flocks, and are known for their playful and intelligent nature. Lilac-crowned Amazons inhabit various forested habitats, including tropical and subtropical forests, woodlands, and savannas. They are known for their melodious calls and are often found in areas with abundant fruiting trees. While they are not currently considered globally threatened, habitat loss and capture for the pet trade pose potential threats to their populations.
