Lilac-crowned Fruit Dove, Ptilinopus rarotongensis, is a pigeon in the Cook Islands of eastern Polynesia, breeding on Rarotonga and Atiu. It was described by Hartlaub and Finsch in 1871. The species is divided into two subspecies, with Ptilinopus rarotongensis rarotongensis on Rarotonga and Ptilinopus rarotongensis goodwini on Atiu. It is confined to these two small islands, where sudden storms are a risk. The population is considered stable and is estimated at no more than 2,500 birds.
