Lilian's lovebird

Agapornis lilianae

Lilian's lovebird (Agapornis lilianae) is a small parrot species native to the arid regions of southwest Africa. These lovebirds are known for their striking plumage, with a predominantly green body, red forehead, and blue rump. They are highly social birds, often forming strong pair bonds and displaying affectionate behaviors. Lilian's lovebirds primarily inhabit savannas, woodlands, and scrublands, where they forage for seeds, fruits, and grains. They are often found in small flocks and are known for their acrobatic flight and playful nature. While their population is currently stable, habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade pose potential threats to their future survival.
