Little Crake

Zapornia parva

The Little Crake (Zapornia parva) is a small waterbird found in wetlands and marshes across Europe and Asia. It is characterized by its secretive nature and elusive behavior, often hiding in dense vegetation. This species has a mottled brown and buff plumage, with a short tail and a distinctive white patch on the flanks. Little Crakes are known for their high-pitched calls during the breeding season, and they primarily feed on insects, small fish, and aquatic invertebrates. Due to habitat loss and degradation, the Little Crake faces conservation challenges in some parts of its range.
