Hieraaetus morphnoides
The Little Eagle (Hieraaetus morphnoides) is a small to medium-sized bird of prey found in Australia and surrounding regions. It has a wingspan of approximately 120-150 cm and is known for its distinctive long, wedge-shaped tail and broad wings. Little Eagles are often seen soaring high in the sky, using their keen eyesight to hunt for small mammals, reptiles, and birds. They prefer open woodlands, grasslands, and agricultural areas, where they can easily spot their prey. Despite being widespread, the Little Eagle faces threats from habitat loss and human disturbance, leading to a decline in some areas.
