Little Gull

Hydrocoloeus minutus

The Little Gull (Hydrocoloeus minutus) is a small, graceful seabird found in Europe and Asia. It is the smallest gull species, with a distinctive appearance characterized by a dark hood, white underparts, and delicate, slender wings. During the breeding season, these gulls nest in large colonies on coastal islands and marshes, often in association with other waterbirds. They are highly agile flyers and are known for their graceful hovering and dipping flight patterns as they forage for small fish and invertebrates. Little Gulls are highly migratory, wintering in coastal areas of the Mediterranean, Black Sea, and Indian Ocean. They are considered a species of Least Concern by the IUCN due to their large and stable population.
