Little Penguin

Eudyptula minor

The Little Penguin (Eudyptula minor) is the smallest species of penguin, standing at an average of 33 centimeters tall and weighing around 1 kilogram. These penguins are primarily found in southern Australia and New Zealand, where they inhabit coastal areas and islands. They have a distinctive bluish-gray plumage on their back and white underside, with a slate-blue color on their flippers. Little Penguins are skilled swimmers and feed on small fish and squid. They nest in burrows or under vegetation to protect themselves from predators. Due to threats such as habitat destruction and human disturbance, the conservation status of the Little Penguin is listed as Vulnerable by the IUCN.
