Little Swift
Apus affinis
The Little Swift (Apus affinis) is a small, fast-flying bird found in sub-Saharan Africa and parts of Asia. With a streamlined body, long, scythe-shaped wings, and a short forked tail, this species is well-adapted for aerial feeding and migration. Little Swifts are highly social and often form large flocks, nesting in colonies on cliffs, buildings, and other man-made structures. They primarily feed on flying insects captured in mid-air using their wide gape and agile flight. Their distinctive high-pitched calls are often heard as they soar and wheel through the skies. Despite their adaptability to urban environments, they are vulnerable to habitat loss and disturbance.
