Crypturellus soui
The Little Tinamou (Crypturellus soui) is a small ground-dwelling bird found in the tropical forests of South America. It has a cryptic plumage that provides excellent camouflage among the leaf litter, making it difficult to spot. This species is primarily active during the early morning and late afternoon, foraging for seeds, fruits, and insects on the forest floor. Little Tinamous are known for their distinctive whistling calls, which are often heard at dawn and dusk. They are shy and elusive birds, preferring to run or freeze in response to threats rather than fly. Despite their secretive nature, they play an important role in the ecosystem as seed dispersers and prey for predators.
