Long-billed Pipit, Anthus similis, breeds across Africa and the Oriental Region, with a range that also reaches south Asia. It is a passerine in the wagtail and pipit family, and the name was first applied by Jerdon in 1840. The species is part of a difficult group with several closely related forms spread far apart, and some birds once included here are now treated as separate species. Its breeding places are dry open slopes with rocks and low vegetation, and the nest is built on the ground.
