Long-billed Sunbird

Cinnyris lotenius

The Long-billed Sunbird (Cinnyris lotenius) is a small passerine bird found in the forests and woodlands of sub-Saharan Africa. This species is known for its long, slender bill that is adapted for feeding on nectar from flowers. The male has iridescent green and purple plumage, while the female is more subdued with olive-green upperparts and yellow underparts. Long-billed Sunbirds are highly active and agile, often seen darting between flowers in search of nectar and small insects. They play an important role in pollination and are a delight to observe in their natural habitat.
