Chiroxiphia linearis
The Long-tailed Manakin is a small passerine bird found in the tropical forests of Central and South America. Males of this species are known for their striking black and bright blue plumage, while females have olive-green upperparts and yellowish underparts. These birds are famous for their unique courtship displays, where males perform coordinated dances to attract females. Long-tailed Manakins primarily feed on fruits and insects, and they are often found in the lower levels of the forest canopy. Their populations are currently stable, but they face threats from habitat loss and fragmentation.
