Caprimulgus eximius
The Long-tailed Nightjar (Caprimulgus eximius) is a nocturnal bird found in the forests and woodlands of South America. With a distinctive long tail and cryptic plumage, it is well adapted for camouflage and hunting at night. This species is known for its distinctive churring calls during the breeding season. Long-tailed Nightjars primarily feed on moths, beetles, and other flying insects. They are solitary birds and are often observed perched horizontally on tree branches or on the ground. Despite their widespread distribution, their secretive nature makes them difficult to study.
