Long-tailed Nightjar

Caprimulgus climacurus

The Long-tailed Nightjar, scientifically known as Caprimulgus climacurus, is a nocturnal bird found in sub-Saharan Africa. This species is known for its cryptic plumage, which provides excellent camouflage during the day. Long-tailed Nightjars have a distinct call that can be heard during their nocturnal hunts for insects. They are often found in open woodlands, savannas, and grasslands, where they forage for insects in flight. Long-tailed Nightjars are medium-sized birds with long wings and tails, and they are well-adapted for their aerial hunting lifestyle. While their population status is not well-documented, their habitat is threatened by habitat loss and degradation.
