Long-tailed Starling, Aplonis magna, is a starling of the Schouten Islands off West Papua in Indonesia, with breeding recorded from Biak and Numfor in the Geelvink Bay islands of north-west New Guinea. It is notable for its very long tail, which in the nominate form can match or exceed the body, while in brevicauda it is shorter. The species has two subspecies and lives in natural forest, forest edges, secondary growth and gardens across a broad range of altitudes. It is common within its limited range and nests high in trees.
