Long-tailed Woodcreeper

Deconychura longicauda

The Long-tailed Woodcreeper (Deconychura longicauda) is a slender, long-tailed bird found in the tropical forests of South America. It is known for its distinctive long tail, which it uses to support itself as it climbs tree trunks in search of insects and spiders. This species has a mottled brown and white plumage, providing excellent camouflage in its forest habitat. Long-tailed Woodcreepers are often seen foraging alone or in pairs, and their high-pitched calls can be heard echoing through the forest. Despite their relatively widespread distribution, their secretive nature makes them challenging to study and monitor.
