Long-tailed Woodcreeper

Microcerculus ustulatus

The Long-tailed Woodcreeper (Microcerculus ustulatus) is a small, insectivorous bird found in the tropical forests of Central and South America. This species is known for its distinctive, high-pitched vocalizations that are often heard before the bird is seen. Long-tailed Woodcreepers have a cryptic plumage, allowing them to blend in seamlessly with the dense foliage of their forest habitat. They forage for insects and spiders by hopping along tree trunks and branches, using their long, decurved bills to probe into crevices. Despite their inconspicuous nature, their melodious songs and unique foraging behavior make them a sought-after sight for birdwatchers in their range.
