Lord Howe Gerygone

Arses insularis

The Lord Howe Gerygone, scientifically known as Arses insularis, is a small passerine bird native to Lord Howe Island, an isolated volcanic remnant in the Tasman Sea. This bird is characterized by its olive-green upperparts, pale underparts, and a distinctive white eye-ring. It primarily forages for insects in the canopy of subtropical forests, using its slender bill to glean prey from leaves and branches. The species is known for its melodious and varied song, which contributes to the rich avian chorus of its island habitat. Due to its restricted range and small population, the Lord Howe Gerygone is vulnerable to habitat loss and introduced predators.
