Lorentz's whistler (Pachycephala lorentzi) is a small passerine bird native to the mountain forests of New Guinea. This species is characterized by its distinctive whistling calls and melodious songs. Lorentz's whistler has a striking appearance, with a black head, olive-green upperparts, and bright yellow underparts. It forages for insects and small fruits in the dense undergrowth of montane forests, often perching in the mid-story or lower canopy. Due to habitat loss and limited range, the conservation status of Lorentz's whistler is currently classified as Vulnerable by the IUCN.
