This species is known for its melodious and varied songs, often heard during the breeding season. Louisiana Orioles are primarily insectivorous, foraging for insects and small invertebrates in the forest canopy. They are known for their acrobatic flight and agile movements as they search for food. Although not currently classified by the IUCN, the Louisiana Oriole may face threats from habitat loss and deforestation in its range.
