It breeds in wooded, often swampy, areas near water, and constructs its cup-shaped nest on the ground. During migration, it can be found in a variety of forested habitats. The Louisiana Waterthrush primarily feeds on insects and other small invertebrates. It is known for its clear, ringing song that is often heard near its preferred water habitats.
