Ashbyia lovensis
The Lovens Ashbyia (Ashbyia lovensis) is a small passerine bird native to the forests of the Lovens region. It is characterized by its striking black and white plumage, with a distinctive red patch on its wings. These birds are known for their melodious and varied songs, often heard echoing through the dense foliage of their habitat. Lovens Ashbyias are primarily insectivorous, foraging for small insects and larvae among the leaf litter and tree bark. They are also known to feed on fruits and seeds during certain seasons. Due to habitat loss and fragmentation, the population of Lovens Ashbyias is declining, and they are currently listed as Near Threatened by the IUCN.
