Lucifer Hummingbird

Amazilia luciae

The Lucifer Hummingbird (Amazilia luciae) is a strikingly beautiful species of hummingbird found in Mexico and the southwestern United States. This small bird is known for its vibrant iridescent green and blue plumage, with the male featuring a brilliant red throat patch. They are often found in arid scrublands, open woodlands, and desert oases, where they feed on nectar from a variety of flowering plants. These agile birds are known for their acrobatic flight and are often seen darting among flowers and foliage. The Lucifer Hummingbird is not currently considered to be at risk, but habitat loss and climate change could pose future threats to its populations.
