Ludovico's hummingbird

Doryfera ludovicae

Ludovico's hummingbird (Doryfera ludovicae) is a small, strikingly beautiful hummingbird found in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil. The male has a vibrant iridescent green throat and crown, contrasting with a deep blue head and back. The underparts are white with a touch of blue on the chest. The female is less colorful, with a green upper body and white underparts. Ludovico's hummingbird is known for its agile flight and its distinctive high-pitched buzzing sound. It primarily feeds on nectar from flowers and small insects. Due to habitat loss and fragmentation, this species faces conservation concerns.
