Lunulated Parrot

Bolbopsittacus lunulatus

The Lunulated Parrot (Bolbopsittacus lunulatus) is a small parrot species native to the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia. It is known for its striking plumage, which features a combination of green, blue, and yellow feathers, with distinct markings on the wings and tail. These parrots are highly social and often form large flocks, communicating through a variety of calls and vocalizations. They are primarily frugivorous, feeding on a variety of fruits, seeds, and nuts. Lunulated Parrots are typically found in lowland forests and wooded areas, where they nest in tree cavities. Due to habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade, their populations are declining, and they are classified as Near Threatened by the IUCN.
