Traversia lyalli
Lyall's wren (Traversia lyalli) is a small, flightless bird endemic to New Zealand. It is known for its distinctive short wings and long, slender bill. This species is primarily found in dense, damp forest undergrowth, where it forages for insects and invertebrates. Lyall's wren is known for its secretive nature and is often difficult to spot due to its cryptic plumage. Unfortunately, the species is currently listed as Extinct, with the last confirmed sighting occurring in 1894 on Big South Cape Island.
