MacGillivray's Prion

Pachyptila macgillivrayi

MacGillivray's Prion is a small seabird belonging to the Procellariidae family. It is characterized by its dark grey upperparts, white underparts, and a distinct M-shaped pattern on its upperwings. These birds are highly pelagic, spending most of their lives at sea, only returning to land to breed. They are known for their graceful and agile flight, often gliding low over the water's surface. MacGillivray's Prions primarily feed on small fish and squid, using their slender, hooked bills to catch prey. They are found in the southern oceans, particularly around the subantarctic and Antarctic regions.
